Tadoba's Safari Information

Morning safaris start between 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM depending on the season, with exit times around 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Evening safaris start between 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM and end by 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Core zones are closed one day a week (usually Tuesday), buffer zones on another (usually Wednesday). Last entry is about 2 hours before safari end.

You can book online up to 120 days in advance on the official portal (mytadoba.mahaforest.gov.in). Booking at safari gates is possible but costs more and slots fill quickly. Trusted operators like Tadoba Trails arrange permits, guides, and 4x4 vehicles starting around ₹6,000 per jeep. Mixing core and buffer zone safaris gives a richer experience.

Core zones (e.g., Moharli, Kolara) are pristine forests with higher chances of seeing tigers but stricter regulations. Buffer zones (e.g., Junona) offer easier access and diverse wildlife like birds and deer, ideal for beginners. Both use 6-seat gypsies or 18-seat canters for groups.

There are 6 core zone gates (Moharli, Kolara, Khutwanda, Navegaon, Pangdi-Zari) and 16 buffer zone gates. Moharli is popular for cultural visits (temples nearby), Kolara for dense forest and tiger sightings. Zari is recommended for tranquil riverside views.

Night safaris are limited to buffer zones like Junona and Dewada, usually between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM on select days. These are guided experiences focusing on nocturnal animals like owls and civets. Booking through authorized operators is advised.
